Both the Standard and Minimum investment amounts required to obtain an EB-5 Visa to immigrate legally to the United States were increased on November 21, 2019.
EB-5 investments
The Standard Investment of $1.8 million is the amount required by the USCIS to fund a direct or Regional Center project under the terms of the EB-5 program. The business can be located anywhere in the United States as long as it is approved by the USCIS.
The Minimum Investment is now set and will remain at one-half of the Standard Investment amount. With the current Standard Investment at $1.8 million, the Minimum Investment is $900,000 for a project within a Targeted Employment Area (TEA). TEAs will typically be rural areas with high unemployment. The Minimum Investment will not change unless the Standard Investment changes.
So much attention has been focused on the potential changes to the EB-5 program over the past four or five years that some people have lost sight of the program’s purpose and benefits. All of this applies to the investor’s immediate family, i.e., spouse and children under the age of 21. |
Neither does the EB-5 Investment Immigration Visa program encumber applicants with special requirements like many other U.S. visas do. For instance, applicants are not required to have special skills or educational prequalifications.
